Hit the books.

Velvet lips and the eyes to pull me in, we both know you'd already win.

Day two of term four and here we are, struggling to keep awake during lessons, struggling to find a seat in the library to commence hours of mugging, struggling with the notes and book to bring.

Reality, it strikes you like a punch in the gut. The holidays are over (it wasn't much of a holiday anyway) and from here on, you are slaves of your books. You will commit to memory every piece of information, every equation, every stroke of a diagram. Everybody else will be doing the same, fighting for the piece of pie. Those big juicy, sweet, especially sweet, fruits of their labour. Crack open the hard shell of the seemingly unattainable fruit and you will see that your well-deserved break, happiness, accomplishments lie inside.

You will take a piece and savour it until the last lingering sweetness gets washed away. Temporary, but sweet all the same. Then we start over.
