The hands dance a ballet of their own

PERMALINK • Saturday, 11 February 2012

Witness a dissection of the heart and I'm standing knee-deep in emotions.
The gentle push and pull of the waves wash warm pearls of wishes onto the back of my knees.
Do you see what I mean? Do you see what I mean? Do you see what I want you to see?

The ravines fill with warmth and life,
Like embroidery of trust and comfort.
The endless entwining of words unspoken and thoughts
Left hanging by a silver thread,
Carefully spun, fragile, like the faint trace of
Hope we fear to tug at.
Draw nearer, draw nearer,
Or be lost forever.

Slipping and flitting across the creases,
Drawing decagons across the veins.
Tenderness and hesitance splay at the fingertips.

We

Skid down a trail of questioning silence.
Rest precariously on blades and crooks.
Return home.

I woke up this morning with Dangerous Blues by The Young Veins playing in my head:

All I do is lie
By the ocean side
Why do the clouds all turn gray just for you?
I’ve never been such a beautiful blues

And step outside your door
And go down to the shore
Why do your eyes feel like shells in a dune?
And what makes a crowd turn away from a tune?
I’ve never been such a beautiful blues

Even the tide gets high at night
Even the truth is wrong sometimes

All I want to do is dig a hole with you
Feet are no strangers to the undertow
Wind won’t decide which way to blow
But we will never leave
You’re all that’s left for me
This is our home, we just don’t have a door
Euphoria is a risk on the floor
The words keep on crawling from under the rug
Who knew that love was a dangerous drug?

Even the tide gets high at night
And even the truth is wrong sometimes
Sometimes

Who knew that love was a beautiful blues?
Who knew that love was a dangerous drug?
Now I know love is a beautiful drug
I know that drug is a dangerous love
I know now love is a dangerous blues
